You are ready
The Reiki level I attunement creates a Reiki practitioner. Besides giving Reiki to yourself you are at the same time ready to give Reiki treatments to other people.Permission
It is an absolute must to have permission from the person you want to give Reiki. If the person is unconscious, asking permission is still required, but it can then be done at the soul level. Know that it is possible to have permission by spoken word from a person and then still feel a NO on the soul level. Should this happen (it is very rare) please respect the No. We all have the absolute right to free will.
Healing others / Step by Step What you need
A blanket in case your person gets cold (body temperature lowers when we relax).
Kleenex (Reiki often brings about an emotional release).During the session your person might experience emotional release. This can occur in any form from tears, upset, anger, fear to name a few. The secret is to allow your person to feel whatever feeling is coming up and then to release it. It can also happen that your person experiences pain. This means a energy blockage is being cleared. Ask her to breathe into the painful area. Do not stop the treatment. Keep going. Know that you will never be given a situation that you cannot handle.
Preparation
Tell your person to wear comfortable loose fitting clothes. Make sure your person is comfortable, seated or laying down. If your person is laying down you may want to put a roll underneath her knees for comfort. Ask your person to remove her eyeglasses and shoes. Ask your person to notify you if something or some hand position feels uncomfortable. Encourage her to share with you should she experience emotional release, to cry if she feels tears dwelling up. Be compassionate, loving and absolutely non-judgmental , your person needs to feel absolutely safe. . Allow and encourage tears to flow. Know that tears are healing too.Play some gentle healing/relaxing music, light a candle if you wish. Wash your hands. Make sure that you are in a comfortable position during the session. Offer a short prayer including that you intend to offer Reiki for the highest good of this person and for yourself, to the willingness of her acceptance at this time. Invite your Reiki guides to be with you.
Hands on Healing Session
Make sure you have a good idea of the hand positions. Should you get lost, ask your guides for help and keep going. You'll do alright. TRUST yourself. Remember that you cannot do Reiki wrong. But do not show any insecurity about what you're doing. Your person needs to feel safe.As in self healing work from head to toe on the front, then from head to toe on the back, following the hand positions. Finish the Reiki session with the position on the soles of the feet. A complete Reiki session takes about one to one and a half hour.
Remarks to some of the hand positions
Start with hand position #1 over the eyes. The general rule is not to touch the eyes. Hold your hand slightly above (touch only if you're related to the person and she wishes you to to so). Follow the Reiki wave and move on to the next position when the flow ebbs down, or when you feel guided to move on. In position #3 cradling the head, you just slide your hands under the head. Your person doesn't have to lift her head off the pillow. For more information on the stillpoint read the related text in Diane Stein's book. Before you move on to position #4 over the throat, ask your person if she's ok with being touched on the throat. Some people become frightened when hands are placed on their throat.Do not touch a woman's breasts, respect her intimacy. Over the pubic area, position #10, hold your hands slightly above.
While working on knees and ankles, you might feel guided to stay longer than one cycle. Follow your guidance.
When you're done with the front ask your person to turn over and work again from head to toe. Finish the Reiki session with the position on the soles of her feet. By this time your person is frequently fast asleep. The position on the soles of the feet will gently bring her back. When done, have her turn onto her back again. With both hands you brush now her aura from head to toe three times, then fluff her aura in fluffing hand motions from her toes up to her head.Ending the Reiki Session
Allow her time to get up at her own pace. No rushing. Offer her a glass of fresh water and a big hug. Some people do feel a bit spacy after a Reiki session. Keeping that in mind, chat a while with your person before you let her drive home. Make yourself available to your person in case she needs to call you after her Reiki session. Similar to the time after the attunement, a person can experience a period of detoxification after a Reiki session. Be supportive and reassuring, explain to your person that she might be going through a time of cleansing.Thank your Reiki guides.
